Vice President, Teradata

Randy Lea is vice president of the Teradata Aster Center of Innovation for the Americas.  He is responsible for field operations including sales, technical pre-sales and professional services for the Teradata Aster MapReduce Analytic Platform.  Lea reports to Rocky Blanton, President of the Americas for Teradata.

The Aster Center of Innovation (COI) supports the Teradata industry solution organizations with Big Data and MapReduce analytic solutions using Aster’s patented SQL-MapReduce data base technology and packaged analytics.  As companies explore the value of integrating both structured and unstructured data, the need has surfaced for a Discovery platform that gives the data analyst the right tool to easily investigate new insights with new rich analytics.  As a Discovery platform Aster provides data analysts with the ability to analyze new and existing data via SQL, Map-Reduce and statistical functions through an easy to use SQL-MapReduce framework.  MapReduce analytics excels in pattern, path, and graph analytics to help reduce the noise in Big Data to find the signals that drive customer satisfaction, supply chain efficiencies and new machine data analytics.

Lea has over twenty years of experience in the data warehouse and analytics industry where he began selling Teradata data warehouse solutions in 1992.  Prior to his current role, Lea was vice president of Teradata product management.  He has held positions in Teradata as director of product management for retail data warehouse applications (R&D), director of scalable data warehouse marketing, assistant vice president of Teradata marketing, vice president of channel partner sales, retail regional sales director, vice president of global sales support (R&D).

Lea earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from California State University, Fullerton and is a graduate of the Executive Professional Development Program from the California State University, San Diego.
