IT Architect and Strategic Planner

Katalin Bartfai-Walcott is an IT Architect and Strategic Planner in Intel’s Cloud Infrastructure Group, where she leads the planning efforts for Intel’s Cloud Computing Datacenter strategy.  Her focus is on technical direction and long term business strategy for server, network and storage products as well as new architectures for scale-out and autonomic server systems in support of Cloud workloads and datacenters.

In her past work, Katalin started with IBM in 1991 in Global services (IGS) and later in Systems and Technology Group (STG) working with customers, business partners and in various IBM internal and cross divisional projects.  She has led many Fortune 500 and large customer engagements worldwide focusing on multi-platform (Power, Mainframe and Intel) based solutions and datacenter transformation and consolidation efforts.  She led emerging business opportunities around complex technologies, including grid, virtualization engine and cloud computing. She built IBM’s Linux Services and Support Division which provide the backbone for IBM’s platform Linux based OS support and implementation services and later lead IBM’s Linux for Power (OpenPower) Global Technical Sales team. 

Katalin is an executive level technical architect and consultant who consistently exceeds expectations by employing strategic technical and consultative management methodologies and lead strategic customer engagements. She is highly skilled at systems architecture, business to technology value proposition creation, new hardware, software strategy and planning, and professional services in to major accounts.

Katalin has published over 25 technical papers and several IBM Redbooks.  She has spoken at seminars and conferences since 1995, holds 12 patents, and has received IBM’s Chairman’s Award for her work on building the Linux Services and Support division.
