Keynote Address by Chris Kemp (CEO, Nebula): The Enterprise Cloud Paradox

The Enterprise Cloud Paradox

Nebula CEO Chris C. Kemp – former CTO of NASA and co-founder of the OpenStack project

Startups and small businesses have been incredibly quick to adopt the cloud, with Forrester pegging the private infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) cloud market as becoming a $66.4 billion market before the decade’s out. But despite all the hype, mainstream enterprises have been slow to make cloud moves – even though they often have the most to gain from the lowered TCO, scalability and ease of management that a cloud can provide. In this talk, Nebula CEO Chris C. Kemp explains how the current model of cloud computing isn’t enough to address this paradox – and how Nebula and others in the space are working to close the gap and bring the power of the cloud to the enterprise.

Keynote Address by Val Bercovici (NetApp): Cloud Infrastructure Evolution – Science or Science Fiction?

Over the past few years, Internet-scale apps have driven visible benefits to mobile users and tablet-based information services. Simultaneously, less visible benefits have been the revolution in back-end infrastructure inside the data centers which power these new apps. That quiet revolution of the past decade involved scale-out technologies such as parallel processing, high-speed networking and distributed storage, which broke the bounds of traditional 3-tier architectures, POSIX storage systems, ACID databases and OSI network stacks. In this talk, NetApp's Val Bercovici will describe the new infrastructure revolution about to shape this decade - dramatic advances in processing, memory, networking and storage technologies. Come hear Val's vision of the future of Cloud-Scale Infrastructure and determine for yourself what is Science and what is Science Fiction!

Keynote Address: Advanced Analytics For Everyone - The New School Of Associative Thinking

The automation of cognitive thinking by machines is going to change how we make sense and make decisions.  When built to work more like human brains – by associative memories – machines can assimilate the huge amounts of data being gathered from enterprises, the Web, mobile devices, and embedded sensors into memories, constantly learning and reasoning in real time.

This cloud-scale intelligence is required by, and should be available to, everyone. To scale to every business user and consumer, deeper analytics must be freed from traditional models and the cost and latency to build them all.  As Manny will present, the democratization of intelligence requires a new school of thinking, thinking more like us to better support us.

This talk will explain how associative memories automatically capture and exploit intelligence from data.  Application examples will describe the diversity of this new approach, from sense making for national security and strategic sales to predicting context-rich vehicle maintenance and consumer behaviors.

Keynote Address by Bob Wiederhold (CEO, Couchbase): How NoSQL Delivers the Performance and Scalability You Need for Your Cloud Applications

The advantages of cloud computing are well-understood: lower costs, ability to scale as needed, faster project deployment, resiliency and redundancy of the production environment. However, the database technology you choose can make or break your ability to benefit fully from the cloud computing model. In this session, Bob Wiederhold will discuss why NoSQL distributed database technology provides a better fit for cloud applications than traditional relational database technology, exploring architectural differences and highlighting real-world examples of the scalability, performance, and other advantages NoSQL provides.

Keynote Address By Marten Mickos (CEO, Eucalyptus Systems) - The Cloud Will Set You Free

15 billion connected devices and 3 billion Internet users are driving the growth of modern web and mobile services and software applications. As the foundation of this all-connected ecosystem, the cloud must free today¹s applications from constraints of the past. The cloud must give businesses the freedom to run apps wherever it makes most sense and to move apps based on evolving business needs. Apps should be free from specific hardware requirements,
free to scale and free to run where most appropriate. In this keynote, Marten Mickos, CEO of Eucalyptus, will discuss how freeing your apps provides new challenges, choices and opportunities for business growth. Marten will highlight how compatibility between cloud ecosystems can drive a new dimension of performance and why today's innovative companies are solidifying their cloud strategies around an open approach.
